Painting Difficult Zoo Animals
- Photo Contest 2003
If you have been painting any time at all you will find that certain animals are difficult to paint in "full face" format. Some of these are elephant, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, antelope and the other horned zoo animals. To further define this because there has been some confusion... we are not looking for intricate PAINTINGS that were difficult to paint. Instead we are looking for paintings of animals that by nature are hard to portray in the normal full face format. That is how we are defining the word "difficult". We WILL NOT ACCEPT any submission like a tiger, lizard, monkey or the like. Like mentioned in the second sentence; we are looking for zoo animals like the elephant, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, antelope and the other horned zoo animals. We might make a slight stretch but this is a fairly narrow contest. We want you to teach us how to incorporate the elephants trunk or the antelopes antlers onto the surface of a face.
Also, before you submit, think... will this EASILY pass the "what is it test". This contest is not for the beginning or timid painter. This is a contest to get and give some good ideas to cover these faces.
Because this is a little more difficult the experienced painters are going to have to get involved. We have upped the ante from just giving certificates so we are offering a 2ml color sample of every color SNAZAROO offers (all 55 colors) for the first place winner. In addition Diana Flier is offering, for first place, one da Vinci Harbin Kolinsky 1526y brush size 06 and a choice of 20 of her 10g loose glitters. She is also giving for second place the above brush and 10 of the 10g loose glitters. For third place she is offering your choice of five of her loose 10g glitters. THINK CREATIVELY. Contest limit 30 photos. We will leave this contest open beyond the 30 photos if we have not received at least one of each of the above animals. All submissions should be considered full face. In other words no cheek art, painting on backs, hands, arms, legs or well, you get the point.

When you submit photos for any contest they will remain posted. Any changes in text or removal of photo at a later date requires a $5 administration fee.
Other rules.... read this carefully!
1) You may not enter any photo that you have entered before
2) You may not use acrylics or any non-FDA approved face paint in any form. You are otherwise
allowed to use any FDA compliant face paint.
3) If your photo is very fuzzy or out of focus it will not be entered. There is no excuse
here because we are willing to scan the photo(s) for you.
4) Do not take your photo from 20 feet away. Get as close to your art work as possible. We
want to see the art not your entire living room.
