GoogleGroups has a rule that
says that a message cannot exceed 1mg IN TOTAL. So first you have to make sure
that you've saved your files small (both in size and resolution helps). If you
post three photos that are 1/2mg, it will reject your message as too big.
Remember, resolution can be VERY low...I often send photos to the list that I've
saved using PhotoShop...and I save the .jpg at a "quality" of 1 on a scale of
0-10. :)
Photos cannot be attached or embedded from the GoogleGroups interface (the
website). You must do this as an e-mail to facepainthq@googlegroups.com.
EMBEDDING PHOTOS
If you've received an e-mail that has a photo that you can see as soon as you
open the e-mail (it is right there, surrounded by text, as it were), then you've
seen an "embedded photo." These are great because they take no time for folks to
open (and I THINK it might not be as easy to transmit viruses this way, but
don't quote me on that 'cause it is just a GUESS.)
Anyway, for Microsoft Outlook clients, just start your e-mail. Click on "Insert"
from the menu bar. If "picture" is shadowy (not 'clickable'), that means you are
sending in "plain text" mode, which doesn't allow embedded photos. So, you then
need to go to "Format" and click on "HTML." That'll allow you to go back to
"Insert" and click on "picture."
Once you've clicked on "picture," you'll get a little window with "browse" on
it. Click on "browse" to find the photo you want. Click on the photo, hit OK or
Done or whatever that is, and the photo should show up. You may need to resize
it (grab the corner and drag) if it is too huge.
ATTACHING PHOTOS
If you've received an e-mail that has a photo attached, it is one where there is
a little paperclip icon showing that you have a file that needs to be opened. To
attach a photo (again, for Outlook, 'cause that's what I have!), simply click on
the Paperclip icon. It will open a "browse" window. Find the file, do the "OK"
thing, and you are good to go.
I hope these instructions help. Sorry I'm not more of a geek who could give you
directions for all the different e-mail clients. I know what I know, and just
barely that. :)
