Featuring Noreen Gay C. Moraleta

I'm Noreen Gay C. Moraleta, presently living in Quezon City, Philippines.  I finished Bachelor of Science in Nursing, registered, and currently working in my husband, Ronnie's privately owned medical clinic and I have a 3 year-old daughter named Raniella. But I consider myself a facepainter first, nurse second.

My facepainting career began in July 2000.  With painting and crafting as a hobby, facepainting wasn't that hard for me to learn, in fact, it was fun!  I taught myself to facepaint first, by practicing on my arm proceeding to my then willing 2 year-old daughter.  I started with Zauder, Stein's (which came with a book) and Mehron face and body paints.

Not long after, I discovered Snazaroo through a friend who offered to sell his stocks of paints so I bought all of it.  I've been using Snazaroo since then because it brings out the best in an artist.  I can play with the colors, mix and match and still come up with favorable results.  I sell Snazaroo paints and facepainting products as part of my service to my fellow facepainters.  I want them to use the best and safest product in facepainting.

My practice in facepainting is based on the things that I've learned in the Snazaroo facepainters' forum.  I just pick out ideas that I can use in the Philippine setting.  I've learned so much from the professional facepainters whom so willingly shared their trade secrets. Visit the photo pages and you can see all the wonderful designs of facepainters all over the world!  It has given me inspiration and challenged me to become the facepainter I am now.

Even as an established artist, I never stop learning and practicing.  I still look at my books and review the techniques that I've learned when I was just starting.  I try to learn from other books that aren't facepainting related but can be adapted to the art such as cartooning, decorative art, stamping, stenciling, or even craft books.  I also practice with different sizes and kinds of brushes but I only use synthetic and pure red sable brushes.

My advice to new facepainters is first, love the art, second, practice a lot and lastly, this profession require lots of patience and dedication.  Join a group or club, facepainter's group, clowns and magicians clubs, any group because you can learn from other professions as well. Even though I'm not a magician, I'm part of the Magician's Foundation, Inc. here in the Philippines.

FACEPAINTING SERVICES:  I facepaint at parties, company events, carnival or mardi gras events, product launchings, & mall tours. Other skills include balloon decoration and balloon sculpture.

step #1. Choose a dark colored paint. It can be dark blue, royal blue,   red or just plain black. With a medium round brush make an
exaggerated "S" by putting a little pressure on the brush while painting the upper part and gradually lifting it upon reaching the tail part of the dragon.

step #2.  Add the head. legs and feet and the arrow shape on the end of the dragon's tail by using the tip of your brush or the liner brush.

step #3  Add the details on the dragon.  By using a brush, gently sprinkle
    dry silver glitters.

step #4  The finished dragon.
